In South Carolina, once your child is 18 years old, they are considered legal adults and gain the rights and responsibilities of adults. This means, as far as the law is concerned, information regarding their health, finances, and education will not be disclosed to anyone without their written consent. This could present a real problem for parents who are not prepared when an emergency happens.
